It's probably the torque converter rather than the auto box.

Bristol transmissions charge about £450 for a TC, then y need to get fitted of course. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Direct from LR is your best bet. Facotry recon unit, all done by ZF.
Just had to replace the box on my Disco

Not cheap, but it's going to be right.

And when it's in bits, check the input splines of the transfer box. That was another sore one, on top of an already expensive job Big Cry

Does worn splines on the transfer box mean a new box or is it a "strip and fix" job? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

They can be repaired, but it is a bit of a specialist job, setting up bearing preloads etc.

Ah, so a new box then really. Wow, that's going to become a pricey little game quite quickly... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi guys sorry to hear about gearbox slipping. My 2005 rrs in currently in the garage having a new gearbox fitted. £3000 bill paid upfront but I get 2 yr unlimited mileage warranty and piece of mind. Just a bit fed up waiting to get the rrs back, having to drive around in my daughters Peugeot 107. Not the most comfortable of drives etc, but better a 2nd class drive than a 1st class walk.
Hope u get yours sorted rrstdv8, mine had a similar problem. Slipping and going in to fault mode.

Regards
Mike
