I had this with my Evoque in 2012, the high gloss panels around the door/window and central pillars have somehow been scratched! The central pillar looks like someone has rubbed it with an abrasive pad and the window sill on the drivers side has what looks like marks where someone has tried to get between the rubber and the glass - attempted break in?

For light swirl marks Michael (Gemclean) 'Superclean' on here and who detailed my car advised that I use 'Poorboys Black Hole' when required as this fills the scratches.

Auto finesse tripple has a lot of fillers in it if required. I bought some to do the gloss black bits on the Evoque as I'd heard they were an issue. Never needed it though, a coat of auto finesse tough coat every 6 months or so has kept them looking great.

thanks for the replies, it's been me washing the car since new, never noticed the scratches before BUT car was 'washed' at the dealers (Strangely BEFORE they did anything) but I can't prove that the scratches weren't there before, maybe because we have this rare thing up here this week (sunshine ).

I've got some Black Hole to try on the pillars. They're scratched even though only I have ever washed the car. Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more...

Yeah, mine came swirled from new, try Dodo Juice Lime Prime to reduce the swirls as much as possible (takes a bit of elbow grease) then protect with something like Gtechniq C1 |

You can polish some of them out Colin. My Focus RS had some marks in the plastic (GRP?) rear spoiler that came out with some careful polishing with a DA polisher:
Dealers are terrible! My fiancée's Golf was completely swirled up when we bought it brand new. I couldn't be arsed with complaining as if they couldn't get it right for the initial "tada" with the new car experience, I didn't hold much faith in them getting it right after I complained... so just spent a weekend and corrected it myself. I had a "do not wash" notice I put in my RS for any time it went into Ford's for anything and have since done the same for Clare's Golf. Touch wood, it's always come home in the state it was put in.. my RRS will have the same too once I get around to correcting the horrific swirls in it now the weather's picking up. My personal preference is ONR (Optimum No Rinse) for washing. Cheers.. Ian |
