When I drained mine from the hoses the volume collected was a few litres short of the total capacity quoted in the manual. So on that basis I would advise you to just drain and refill. If you fill with straight water and drain there will be a lot of straight water left in the engine. Not good. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks paddi, I'm just a bit concerned about mixing coolant as I'm not 100% what is in the system currently, all I no is what is in system currently is under strength. |

Perhaps you could drain, refill with the Halfords OAT, drain again and then fill with more of the same? Means wasting a bit of coolant but its not that expensive is it? If using the concentrate, dilute with deionised water not tap water though. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

If you flush with water, you should be able to calculate approximately how much excess water has been left in, by the volume you get out, and adjust the ratio of antifreeze accordingly. That'd be accurate enough, and if in doubt, use a little more coolant (keep that to a minimum though, for best efficieny). Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

That's what I was thinking, just go maybe 55 coolant and 45 water, Iv just been to stealers and purchased there Land Rover special label coolant, now Iv decided on coolant and purchased it Iv got another dilemma, I was under the impression Land Rover coolant was orange, looking through the clear strip on side of container it looks green. am I just being OVER CAREFUL and should just get on with it... |
