Brake disc removal

Hi all..... On my MINI (sorry mods if you want to move to off topic) I've just changed my front discs (one side grrrr) but the retaining screw is fubar on the otherside.... Someone's tried to remove using wrong size torx bit and is now useless....

Would you to get off... Either

Grind off disc so I can get some molegrips on the screw??
Or
Use some heat and try and knock it round to loosen it??
Or
grind a slot in it and try to use a slotted screw driver to remove

Tomorrows job either way

Thx tt 2010 TDV8 Bali Blue........ "Alive Tuned"

Use a reasonably big drill bit & drill the head off. If you're lucky the heat from drilling may well loosen the screw anyway & you can then undo it. Alternatively, try using a centre punch to 'drift' it around to undo it first. The screw isn't that important as the wheel holds the disc on anyway. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

^^ Good advice.

Played that game before. If you end up with the head drilled off and the disc still stuck to the hub with corrosion - leave the disc in place and then using it as a template drill out and tap the hole. The disc is pretty hard so with luck it will keep the drill central on the hole. If that doesn't work then you could end up using a Helicoil (as did I on one occasion). 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

id try the punch first, on the outside of the head to try to shock/leverage it round. Usually once it starts, it carries on no problem. Bodsys Brake Bible
