Crossing the battery leads

Hi all, I've always had trouble with my Blackberry 9300 Curve syncing with the car, a 2007 TDV8. It does so about 10% of the time. Several of you have suggested I connect the battery leads (well away from the battery!) for 20 seconds or so. Before doing so, can anyone tell me what actually happens when you do this? The car is trouble free & I don't want to create trouble with anything like dash readouts etc!! Many thanks Thumbs Up

It's a hard reset. It will drain all the capacitors in the modules in the car and in turn, effectively remove their synced memory (for want of better words).
Next time the car starts, it should do it in order and with all modules from scratch.

It wont affect your mileage or dash readouts, it wont affect your radio stations, you will need to reset the clock. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Bodsy, might that procedure work to eliminate a very intermittent ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS FAULT message? - comes up after start about once a month - always goes on restart. 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim

Life's too short to drive an ugly car.

I doubt it Andy, but it doesn't cost anything to try it. Make sure the battery is fully charged will also help Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
