If by the carrier they mean the centre prop bearing then the collective wisdom of the forum suggests fitting a new bearing is a very tricky job and the quality of the bearing (available from Britpart) is poor so better to fit a complete new prop shaft assembly which is about £200 or so. Leaving it vibrating can't be a good thing for the other components in the drivetrains so probably best to deal with it sooner rather than later maybe?

Cheers paddi. Hey always say never drive on problems. I'm just working out my cash. I've a set of 22s here I want to get on but I've a few buses to do and this prop shaft. Looks like I'll replace it all but stinging my tyre choice to toyos rather than the premiums. |

Just delay the 22s. Get it running right first. If you skimp on tyres your disappointment will last a long time. |

My indie told me this two years ago. I had no symptoms so I left it. I am still driving about with no symptoms. When I took a look, the prop centre bearing is encased, so how did they establish wear? In commercial applications (that look similar - I trained in Merc vans in the 90's) visual cracking up of the rubber is to be expected, unless vibration is evident, there is no panic to replace. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car. Spiffing wheel centre caps available |

Interesting - They told me to replace the whole part, its only £350 - but that comes directly off my tyres purchase this week. I have actually since read up (here) and on other reviews that toyos are grand and well loved. So I'll most likely leave the prop shaft, fix the bushes and get some nice new wheels. |

Did you do it yourself? I'd watche'd a video of a disco being done. Looked a bit too involved. Amazing it's a cheap fix if you know what you're doing. Owing a sport is for mechanics it seems! |
