Order Postponed

My dealer has confirmed that they have no dates at all for Autobiography Dynamic SC cars nor do they know when they will be getting any dates.

In effect, it appears that LR have pulled the V8 SC engine from the UK market and there is no date when - or even if - it will be back. So, for clarity, I have told the dealer I will not accept a MY2014.X car (not that there's any chance of getting one) and asked him to come to me when they can supply a MY2015 car or an RRS RS.

It appears the Chinese and US markets are taking every V8 SC engine they can make. Mark

How many SC do they sell in the UK? How many do they sell in the US and China? If you can sell every SC you can make elsewhere then it makes sense to do that. The UK is a small market and the SC is a small part of that small market.

From LR's point of view it's a no-brainer. Sure, from UK customers' points of view it's unfair, but LR can't survive and expand their range by just selling Chelsea tractors in the UK. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Don't understand why LR can't get things right. Engine & Pano roof supply issues, online configurator errors, removal of SE model and goodness knows what next.

Pretty shocking for a new model launch IMO. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Figures I have in mind - though those more in the know will doubtless correct me - is that 88% of cars go abroad, one car is made every 97 seconds, 80% of those RRS, 16 hours a day, 6 days a week and 1% of cars in the UK use the 5 litre SC engine. Churn the numbers and that says about 4 AB SC a week in the UK.

Who knows? Mark

UK dealers are suffering as well since, given the opportunity, they could sell many more. As a dealer said to me last week "we need the overseas market to dry up then JLR may become more interested in supplying the UK"

Ah well, at least it keeps residuals higher Rolling Eyes

I can imagine the dealers are hurting, not enough cars to sell and ever reducing service business. LR will be telling them to ramp up their used car business and certainly dealers like a Lookers Park Royal are awash with cars, especially first generation Sports. The LR web-site shows more than 1000 big RRs available...

Maybe that's one reason to restrict new production to the UK, to prevent the secondhand market collapsing. If you fully satisfy new car demand, there will be lots of secondhand cars looking for a home and prices will collapse and LR residuals will acquire a worse reputation than they already have. Mark

Order pushed out :(

Ordered a HSE in Feb and told of an existing build slot for the dealer, so delivery should be end April or early May, excellent I thought and paid deposit......

...email and call yesterday, sorry build delayed until September, nothing we can do Sad

Called local dealer and he confirmed that there had been something changed on build dates - they're quoting Jan 2015 for new orders!

Looks like I'm sticking with my Cayenne for a few more months yet.

True, but they have to work on it, now.
Building new engines in combination with hybride?, BlueTec? and/or ZF-transmission is more important considering the deadline of Septemer the 1st for type regulation, otherwise no new six-cylinders in the MY15 catalogue,
i suppose. Sad

Of course, i hope it isn't true for the order from Challigan and other people. Wink

My wife just got back from Russia, and this wasn't Moscow, this is a relatively provincial town in central Russia. She reported the streets were crawling with new and late model RRS and Evoques. No different to London or Manchester she said.

I get accused of lots of things on this forum but it's clear to me LR are restricting supply to the UK and not just because the car is in demand worldwide. Might be to do with regulations, might be to do with establishing a stronghold in other markets, might be to do with propping up secondhand values of old iron here. Might be classic LR incompetence. Who knows? Mark

If you knew how a big car company worked - you would know that it doesn't work like that...there is no conspiracy against you.

However, if JLR want to focus on a specific market - its their company as long as they employ British people and pay British tax, I couldn't care less. Mike
