United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Maya Gold
Electrical meltdown

So about 12 days ago my alternator burnt out - it really smelt bad Sad

I got a new one fitted by my independant and all seemed OK - but the car developed a bizzarre new trait. When it cold starts the Nav screen fades to white and then black and the whole thing flops about for a while and then reboots. sometimes it happens again and again for a minute or two. At the same time the audio goes off and on, several warning lights flash on and off, and the electric window develop a mind of their own if in use. We replaced the battery, thinking maybe a dead cell was affecting voltage, but it still happens.

I don't want to go through an endless process of elimination, so I'm wondering if anyone has seen such a thing before? Is it related to a specific bad part, a loose cable, or something else?

Any help / advice / Pointers to exisiting threads much appreciated.

Thanks!! Maya Gold TDV6 HSE, only 72k miles! Still put's a smile on my face every time i press the loud pedal...

A thread on a rebooting sat nav here, but sounds like you've got a bust in the leccy system somewhere.
Has a proper spec alternator been fitted?
Could be the battery sustained some damage when the alternator went and you may need to replace that too Idea ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

It's a genuine Landrover re-manufactured part. No-one else does them apparently because they are 2 stage units. I have replaced the battery. Car is parked up at the airport now for a few days (I'm on my travels again) so it will have a real cold start when I get home on thursday. Funny thing is though - after car is warmed up it doesn't happen at all - only first thing
