TDV8 throws a hissy fit?

Perhaps my fellow TDV8 custodians can help me here?

Recently I’ve noticed a hissing sound that starts at about 2,000 RPM and anything more than just very gentle acceleration. With the front windows open it is very obvious.

The sound stops if I lift off.

Is this normal or likely to be a turbo problem developing?

Already checked the two big hoses from the intercooler to the intake manifold and the two small ‘elbow’ hoses under the acoustic cover and there are no visible splits.

Believe there are four further hoses underneath the engine (turbo inlet and outlets): unsure how to access these but will have a look at the weekend.

Am I on the right track? Any tips on accessing/changing the four hoses underneath?

Am trying not to think about failing turbo bearings Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

And this is the thanks I receive for lavishing all that attention on the ungrateful Censored 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Exhaust manifold distortion.

The above bulletin refers to a whistle under load. Usually just before 2000RPM

The rear stud on the exhaust manifold (either side) breaks due to a warped exhaust manifold

^^^ Oh great Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the replies guys.

If it's the exhaust manifold I suppose that is better than turbo failure. (In the same way that a diagnosis of syphilis is preferable to herpes).

There's no hissing on revving up in neutral but ....... 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Firstly, I would have the 2 top turbo hoses off, and check them fully. Wouldn't be the first time someone has missed a split hose Thumbs Up

OK had the top hoses completely off and found no splits. Started her up in off road height and had a good listen under the bonnet and stuck my head in the wheel arches and could only hear 'normal' noises. Revving up to about 2000 with the driver's door open can hear just a very faint whistle. Test driving noise does not sound so loud unless in between buildings or alongside a wall. Perhaps I'm worrying too much and just suffering from TDV8 Simple 1 saga induced paranoia? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
