Miss fire on TDV8

When starting from cold ive noticed that there is a slight miss-fire and small puff of grey smoke on my 07 plate RRS TDV8 , this only lasts around 2 seconds and is fine after and when started when the engine is warm . Any ideas what this could be ? there are no warnings on the dash board . thanks in advance ..

My 2.7 TDV6 does the same when I start from cold in a morning , for 5 - 10 seconds it blows out alot of smoke and idles a but lumpy for a few seconds , I was told it could be glow plugs , apparently alot of them break when you try to remove them so its off with its head if this happens which is ££££ , im hoping its this cold weather and it stops when the temperature rises
