2 weeks ago I had a squeeky brake.

Yesterday while picking up the new caravan I noticed a new sound, a quiet hum from the front.

It didn't vary with left or right turns so I didn't think it was bearing related, so had a look at the front calipers/discs this morning.

The NSR disc has two quite deep (0.5mm) grooves around 2cm apart. (Not there the last time I washed it)

I'm asuming 2 stones have lodged into the pad and are now bedded in causing the rubbing noise?

Is the disc written off of would I get away with just pads. RRS gone

For 100% efficiency you should really replace the discs. Motor factor quality is perfectly good enough for rears. Would be a bit more concerned about noise from front. Mine did this about same time last year while towing new van and though lighter than last one, I put it down to this. It turned out to be front diff failure so get it checked out. It is becoming a known issue and when mine was being sorted, there were under breathe comments about the wrong oil being put in it the previous year when a seal and breather were replaced. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

I wouldn't worry too much about the grooves awd, just look at the performance disc on sports cars, they come grooved and drilled It might help with the cooling on your rear brakes. I'd check that it hasn't destroyed your pads though.

Humming from the front you say.............. .......maybe it doesn't know the words............

I'd go along with a bearing for a humming noise. Jack up the wheel and give it a good wiggle  FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Just got back from my little independant and it's bearings

NSF is wobbley and OSF is rumbling.

Any mobile guys on here want a trip to sunny Wiltshire to replace them?

I'm on holiday with the caravan Wednesday next week and currently none of my local garages can accomodate me before then . RRS gone
