Removable Tow Bar won't lock

Hi,

I now have a removable tow bar Very Happy

Only I can't seem to get it in (oo-er madam). Laughing It goes in and the lock seems to engage but not fully - so when I turn the key to lock I just end up taking it off.

I have tried spraying everything with WD40

I have tested pushing the release pin down outside of the towbar slot and I can lock and the metal cylinder comes out and I can remove the key.

It seems like it isn't engaging fully to release when I put it in the hole? I have tried banging it with a rubber mallet to see if I can force it up further. So it goes in, seems pretty secure but I can't remove the keys?

Can anyone help please?

Thanks,

But there was no solution given, maybe the WD40 just needs time........... 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black

Been outside again and gave the towbar a few choice words and finally got it on Very Happy

It seems that once in you need to give the green bit a final twist (on mine you do) and that sorts everything out.

This thread details it in case anyone else needs help later on.

I still have managed to rip the orange plastic bit off the key with my previous attempts though Shocked and it's less than a day old....... 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black

Good you got it sorted.
I had a similar issue, i think they get a little bit jammed sometimes. I think you'll find now that it's free'd again it should go on/off just fine. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
