Short answer - YES, but same could be said about any newer model really. I've owned both cars the TDV8 HST and the 3.0sd M Sport X5, and in my opion the X5 comes out on top, the reason is reliability and drivability. The X5 drives like a sporty saloon you can throw it round corners and grips the Tarmac like it's on rails the acceleration is superb too, as for reliability no problems have occurred over the last 18 months. I did prefer the looks of the HST but was always worried when the next problem would occur, so that's my view on this Topic and I'm sure that many on this site won't agree with me but having owned both cars I feel that I can compare both vehicles from my experience. The X5 is designed to be a sporty on-road 4x4 though. The RRS is just a tarted-up Discovery and so is compromised when taken to extremes on-road - albeit very good for something that weighs 2.5tonnes and suspension designed to work well off road.
