IPhone 4s Incoming Message Sound

Does anyone know if its possible to get an audible alert when a text message comes through as when it's connected through the RRS handsfree it's silent?

I've not found a way to that's with both the older module, the upgraded module or the d4 module Bodsys Brake Bible
