Remapping

Looking to buy a Blue Fin for 09TDV8. Been on superchips site and results look impressive! Any comments on this appreciated please.

Hi

I have this on MY58. Great improvement all round and a slight increase in MPG. You can download the map back down onto the unit and restore to standard settings if required. It is very easy to do.

Before it downloads it will check and if any problems store’s this information so that you can download to Superchips who will sort out or advise you.

Mine was already remapped when I brought it but had no idea. They phoned me up to inform me and was allowed to try their version for two weeks and if I did not like they would refund me. Great service

I kept it

Agreed, I have it on my 07 and makes a massive difference to an already quick car, very little effort required for overtaking etc and increase in MPG, just keep an eye on the speedo tends to get into 3 figures too easily Very Happy

Seem to have great gains (as on most turbo diesels), but I've always been too scared! As long as you take it to a reputable place I'm sure it will be great. I know some places just seem to chase the highest bhp/torque figures to sell more, with not much thought put into additional stress on the turbo etc., and a strange power curve.

Your in York so give Pete Bell from Bell Auto's a visit he is not far from you and in my opinion has the best remaps available.

What he said^^^^ Thumbs Up

Pete is at Acaster Malbis and has remapped all my previous Landrovers. All have been completely transformed by his remaps and as a bonus have had improved MPG (when you get over the initial fun of the new found POWER! )

Agreed re: BAS remap. I recently bought a SH BAS unit and Pete did the map in next to no time for a reasonable fee. He asks what you want from the remap rather than just a "one size fits all" map. I've got a nice torquey response which is what I was after rather than just a headline power figure. Goes nicely and seems to be giving a slight improvement in mpg. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I've just removed my Bell Auto's map and I can tell you the oomph has certainly gone Big Cry

Most noticeable is the mid range punch.... and it pulled harder for longer to, which when hitting the motorway and accelerating up to cough cough was always fun....

Much more soot from the tailpipes however as a result Thumbs Up

Only reason I downgraded was my turbo actuator rod was sticking on WOT which the standard map does seam to trigger (less fuel so boost isn't held so long I'm assuming). RRS gone

Turbo rod sticking on WOT? Is that a reliability issue you were concerned about or different reason for removing map?

@awd man

The turbo actuator is cycled on ignition on you should be able to hear going through its check but i fail to see how removing your map could help you check this.

@ david

It's not the map's "fault" it was just under the circumstances of full boost under heavy load the BAS map holds max boost better..(?) resulting in the actuator rod sticking on full, then freeing off moments later but not after I got an engine fault and reduced power.. which was tedious if towing.

The standard map does not trigger this. RRS gone
