Towbar electrics

My 2005 RRS doesn't have the towbar electrics fitted. I see some genuine Land Rover electric kits for sale on ebay but am wondering do these need to be activated by the dealer after fitting.

The non-genuine kits state they do not require dealer activation, but was looking for a kit that had the additional power socket and none of the copy kits appear to have this.

Just want to make sure before buying one.

Thanks

im no expert, but this has been covered on this forum, the dealer fitted price is around £100 i remember, so theres no point in buying aftermarket 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

I looked and didn't find anything about a dealer fitted price.

Does the dealer fitted price include the actual wiring kit as this appears to cost more than £100 alone, so I can't see how a dealer could supply and fit it for £100.

If it was a £100 dealer fit item I wouldn't bother looking around for the kit and would just go and get it done.

LR kit was around £80 IIRC - dealer to fit £100+

DIY job and only activation needed (but not really needed) is to de-ac fog lights with electrics in.

Elecs do come up on ebay

Thanks for that, sounds more like it.

The genuine LR kits are on ebay for around £100 and the non-genuine are around £70. Have noticed the non-genuine kits have some sort of control box which genuine one doesn't so was wondering what it actually does. It may be to deactivate the fog lights as they state dealer activation is not required.

Advantage of the LR kit is that it has the additional power outlet which none of the copy kits appear to have.

I would go for the LR kit - covered then if you have issues - phone dealer for a price - £100 sounds steep - also get the part number and google it - there are a few people out there selling LR kit at better prices. Britpart is one IIRC but there were a few - some dealers operate ebay also.
