Battery/alternator problem or something like that

Have experienced low power mode during the past week. Put battery on charge and it did require a few hours charge. Took it off yesterday when it was fully charges, today got the same issue with low power mode. Car drove ok but after we had stopped this morning it started but the sat nav was flashing on and off and the display stated suspension was raising slowly, several other lights came on and off. Luckily there was a garage there, drove car a couple of hundred yards to the workshop and then it would not start. The battery was now flat, have had to leave the car there for them to look at on Monday. Problem is we are in Spain so not sure how easy it will be to get a new alternator quickly. Have now had to hire a car till next week, hope this isn't the start of bad things

Hi Ady, have read that post and looked at a couple more, had no real symptons except the low power mode until today. Drove the car back from Bilbao and had no problems. Will keep my fingers crossed for a quick reasonably priced fix. Still enjoy the car anyway Thumbs Up

Vehicle details? New RRS or older? TDV6, TDV8 or SC?

Be worth putting a new battery in - if its the battery at fault then the issues will go away. If it's the alternator then they'll be slightly more intermittent as the new battery will be able to cover some of the demand. Being a new battery, if the alternator is indicated as being at fault by further spurious errors, then it should still be in good shape after the alternator is replaced.

Once the battery has suffered a couple of full discharges then it's likely to have a seriously reduced lifespan anyway. That is to say that it's Censored 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It is a 2006 TDV6, garage are putting the diagnostics on Mon, hopefully that will reveal what the problem is. Can't do much myself as the car will not start and is stuck at the garage

went back to the garage at lunch time, they have diagnosed the alternator as the problem. The battery held a charge over the weekend and started first time, the alternator showed an output for 2 mins then just dropped out. They have sourced a brand new part here in Spain and can have it by tomorrow, should all be fitted and working by Wednesday lunchtime. Bad news is the cost €756, that does not include them having a look at the non-working rear parking sensors. Also gave the hire car back and will use the motorbike for the next couple of days, sad to say I have a Spanish regd Volvo XC70 sat here but no insurance.
Will let you know if all turns out well

Have you looked into extended warranty ? In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Not sure how I'd go about that, hoping to move back up Allicante way soon so any garage recommendations would be appreciated
