Nothing.
It's an english car. Rolling Eyes
Just switch it off and on and you will see, the fault has cleared. SW

Tim,
Clockspring is inside the steering wheel and transfers all of the inputs from the switches on the steering wheel including the airbag to the fixed part of the car. Otherwise no connection between rotating steering wheel and the vehicle. Its a peice of rolled up plasic with electrical tracks on it. Looks like a clockspring hence the name.
I had one fail on a Mitsubishi Pajero and the symptom was airbag light on. Its not uncommon for them to fail.

The problem could be one of the sensors isnt talking to the computer.I think there is 14 of them. You may need to get it plugged in. I had the same prob and it was the sensor in my door. God forbid you have an accident with this light still on as airbags my not deploy. Hope this helps.

United Kingdom

You need to get the car onto a diagnostic machine to determine which part has failed. The light can be on due to failed airbag units, crash sensors general wiring faults, or as has already been mentioned the 'clock spring' connector in the steering wheel - also known as the rotary coupling I think.

Whilst I had mine I managed to have a failed crash sensor as well as a failed clock spring (different occasions). When you have it on the diagnostic machine you can see the voltages per channel on the clock spring and if the airbag channel is open then the connector is faulty. IIRC a clock spring is about £150-200 and it takes about an hour or so to replace.
