MY2010 Rusty tailgate struts!

Noticed today that both my struts on the main tailgate (not the rear window struts) are really rusted and rotting away on both sides! The car is new to me and only 2 years old!!!

Car has not been stored in sea water, as far as stratsones in Stockton advised Rolling Eyes

Has this happened to anyone else? MY2010 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt silver/Ebony/walnut, privacy, side steps, rubber mats and standard otherwise...

Yes this is covered under warranty, and they were replaced with no question - I just wondered if anyone else had the issue before, as it seems a design issue, or maybe my car spent a lot of time near salt water! MY2010 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt silver/Ebony/walnut, privacy, side steps, rubber mats and standard otherwise...

had the same issue on 57 and 10 plate so not something lr are doing anything about and if the part isn't improved will just happen again when warranty expires...
