Misfire

Fuel gauge packed in on Thursday. no warning, nothing, just no gauge and a low fuel warning (tank is full).

No big deal, I thought, I'll contact the dealers and get it booked in for repair under warranty.

2days later car begins to misfire and then stop altogether. Car starts again immediately and will run for 2-3mins, coughing approx every 10secs and then stops.

LR Assist contacted and vehicle recovered.

Are the problems related or just an unfortunate coincidence?

Anybody experienced a similar problem?

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE Rimini Red

I had a similar issue in that the fuel and temp gauges did exactly as you described but with mine i had an error displayed where the total mileage should be.

My instrument cluster packed in and it was this that was at fault with mine. Although mines older than yours. A 2006 2.7.

I was told that when Testbook was connected, it could not retain the connection to the computers and as pretty much everything is connected to the instrument cluster, this was the first port of call. Luckily for me that was it and everything is working now. I was told that once the new cluster is in place, there might be other ecus that may be faulty.

However i never had any misfire.

It sounds to me like an ecu somewhere along the canbus that has gone wonky.

Really, it needs to go on Testbook and be diagnosed properly. Current - RRS SE Rimini Red

Well, I got the RRS back this morning. Both fuel tank sensors replaced and all appears well again.
