Oil for Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6

I have been looking at the oil specs and it seems you have to go for Ford Approved oil specs. This means if you use castrol edge you have difficulty in sourcing it. unless you go to a Land Rover dealer as mine is still in warranty I expect I will have to do this. Normal castrol edge 5w30 is C3 whilst you need C1. Would there be problems if you were to switch to normal castrol edge. Also what is the average oil consumption I can expect.

Thanks for the advice not sure what oil landrover put in from the factory does anyone know? Also is it advisable to do an early first oil change on a RRS.

I think it is Castrol Professional or something like that. You cannot buy it unless you are in the trade I believe.

I originally spent ages searching for a suitable oil and the Shell one was the only one I could source, you can buy the Castrol from your LR dealer though. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Siberian Silver

I have a 3.0 TDV6 HSE (2011). The oil spec is WSS M2C 934 B as the car has a DPF fitted. I'm not sure what spec the SDV6 requires, but if you need the same oil, Carlube Triple R 5W 30 C1 is available. I got mine delivered from Euro Car Parts for under £40 for 10 litres. Very Happy
