New Wheels - Just had to show somebody!!

Today I got my 22" Stormers fitted complete with 285/35/22 Kumho tyres. Couldn't get any Handkook anywhere or Toyo Proxes all out of stock. Anyway I'll let you all know how I get on with them!

I think the car looks much nicer and sits much better with them on - can'nt stop looking at it

Looks like the guy in the tire fitting shop doesn't know the meaning of DOT's on tires though!

On high performance tires the dots should be located close to the valve stem. There is a slight difference in the tire wall thickness that's designed to take the im-balance of the valve into account.

Did I explain that clearly enough? Looks a bit jibberish Embarassed Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

If that's the case the red dot on that tyre is nowhere near the valve - this would explain why there's so many weights?? Cheers Laurence.

Bingo Thumbs Up .

When fitting tires in the past I've had guys break the bead again and rotate the tire a few inches in an effort to get a better balance without so many weights.
A good fitter should know that...... Whistle

Just doesnt seem to be any monkeys in tyre shops with an ounce of brains these days & when you suggest trying the tyre a few degrees further around they look at you like some kind of muppet, you should have seen one kiddie trying to balance some 285/65/16's on my 110 !

Apparently a lot of replica wheels require a high amount of balance weights, something to do with the way they are cast during manufacture.
