I made pst back-ups of my email prior to leaving my last job. Today in my new job I tried to open them and got a message saying I was not authorised to open them.

It is on a portable USB HDD. The security settings are all greyed out but when I came home the files work correctly on my own laptop.

Sounds like your work's IT dept have a lock down on attatchment of external hard drives to client PC's, can you use a usb stick with say word files on your work PC, if so try putting the PST file on a memory stick, it will be seen as a different device by the network and should allow you to open however the next barrier may be the loading of PST files into Outlook if the security restricts importing of PST into Outlook. |
