Mine does exactly the same. It's an 06 with only 30k on the clock and was serviced in January with little mileage since. Checked the oil level and all fine. Sending it to my mechanic next week to have a look!

Check out my post 'very poorly TDV6' - sorry haven't worked out how to post link Embarassed

Mine started off exactly like this, I actually decribed it to LR like the soucnd old tappets used to make.

Don't want to scare you, but get it checked ASAP - mine ended up costing almost £8000 and only had low mileage.

Keep the forum posted, would be interested.

- just for the record, my main stealer said they had replaced 'several' TDV6's with this problem - ouch!!

Did it gradually get worse?

Just started as I was driving at 60MPH ish and within 5 mins of driving became much. much worse. So much so that it sounded wrong and expensive! So came on very quickly on mine.

First thoughts were OIL OIL OIL, but all looked ok and dipped fine on stick. No leaks of anything under the car. It was driven onto the recovery flat bed and off at the main dealer and then it sounded very poorly.

I have heard (not sure if it's true) but this engine (used in other cars too) suffers from failure of the diesel injectors cooling system (not quite sure what that is) and as such leaks diesel / coolant / oil into the wrong place in the engine and destroys the engine. As I say, not sure if mine had this, but I heard this from a Peugeot technician who works on this enging in the 806 I think.

Mine is only after starting for about 20 secs. Gonna flush the system and change oil filter and new oil and see if it's any better.

Could be a good idea to completely flush and change filter to see if it solves the problem. If it does then it could mean contamination of the oil (and breakdown of oil performance), so it could be worth checking the injector cooling route, as this may be the source of the contamination - just a thought - I am no pro, just thinking logically

Just for info, when LR replaced my engine they used;

Castrol SLX Professional Powerflow C1 5w-30 oil, just in case you want to be absolutely sure of the right oil spec Thumbs Up
