Dashboard knocking

Hi guys
My MY10 RRS has developed a plasticky knocking from within the dashboard when I go over road bumps. I am finding myself swerving around bumps now to avoid the knocking and it's starting to affect my RRS ownership smile.

It sounds like hard plastic banging against plastic or metal and it seems to come from behind the dashboard and comes out of the drivers side face air vents (on the dashboard air bag).

I have had my hand up inside the dashboard from the panel below the steering column but can't get it far enough up to where I think the knocking is coming from.

Any body else had this or have any ideas how I can get it to see what the issue is. It's driving me mad !!!!

Yes, I have the same in my MY10 - I thought it was the vent on the stearing coloumn but have since ruled that out. As you say, its behind the dash somewhere.

Hi DJH - mine seems to come out of the drivers face air vent on the dashboard. Sounds like the vent pipe is loose and knocking on something else. Funnily enough only happens when the passenger side front wheel goes over a pot hole / bump and not the drivers side.

Was thinking about removing the air vent and having a look but a) don't know how to do it and b) there's an airbag in there somewhere !!!

Don't know what to do next

Take it to the dealer and say....knocking behind the drivers airvent - fix please.

Photograph the whole car for damage and then come back 8hrs later for it to not be fixed, but problem located....then a further 8hrs for the fix 2 weeks later. Mike
