£72K up for grabs and nobody wants it!!

I don’t get it at all?

Two weeks ago I visited my local LR dealer in Chelmsford Essex and inquired about a deal on a new RRs S/C what deals were on offer etc?? The salesman said the guy I needed to speak to was busy and took my details said he would call me. I was a bit P’d off as I had driven 30min to the showroom and not even been offered a cup of coffee, offered to look at a new model any information about the car he just took my details and said goodbye with a promise he’d call me. Not heard a dickybird since!

Not being put off I then contacted Lookers Park Royal Sunday last Sunday and enquired about a new RRs S/C gave them the speck to price for me. They promptly replied saying that he would hand me over to one of there sales guys who could help. I was contacted the next day and asked if July was ok for delivery and he would sort out the numbers for me. I explained that I was on Holiday and would be delighted to receive by email any quotations he can put together so I can chew them over while I’m away and contact him when I get back. Not heard a dickybird since? No contact, no quotes, no deals??? same as the chaps in Chelsford LR dealership?? Now either these guys don’t want to sell any more cars or they aren’t taking me seriously?? Either way think I’ll keep my money in my pocket go and buy myself an X6 at BMW see if those guys want my money?? Damn horrible car I know but I’m not calling either of them back to beg them to take my money!

Seriously P Censored ssed off!! Cheers Laurence.

Just don't take it personally it's their problem.
I had exactly the same issues last month ,2 of my local dealerships where so busy they didn't want to know and 2 others just would not negotiate as they could sell to mugs at list.
I ended up getting 8% discount and delivery within 2 weeks on exactly the spec I wanted.felt like driving into my local dealer who service my cars but it's a waste of time and energy!

Tony
We've just ordered an X6 and 3 back seats can be ordered as a cost option strangely because the residual would be higher it didn't actually cost us any more! MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Perhaps one of the emails below is the response you didn't get (see below)? If so then we have not had a response. I have blanked out the email addresses, however perhaps that was taken down wrong, therefore the email may not have got to you. Alternatively it may have gone in to your 'junk' mail. Email disguised for obvious reasons!

Morning,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding updating your current Sport.

Unfortunately we do not currently have anything built or on the demo fleet that meets your requirements. At the moment I would be looking at approximately late July delivery for one. Would this be acceptable?

If so could we take your current Sport in early or would you need to keep it till you get the new one?

I do have a 5.0 available this month but it is a standard HSE not an Autobiography. Would this be of interest?

Regards,

Jeremy

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry about a new Sport, James has asked me to have a look and put some numbers together for you. At the moment we would be looking at roughly July delivery, would that be ok?

Regards,

Jeremy

Hi James,
Laurence (buster007) from the rrssport forum.
I was just wondering what deals are available on the new S/C 5Ltr models at the moment. I’d be looking at a HSE model in Bali blue with mats, privacy, Xenon, ice pack, Body kit pack.
I’d be looking to put down around £XXk take the deal over X years with a balloon. I cover no more than 7K a year.
Could you give me an idea of cost please.
Kind regards
Received one email from Jeremy about delivery in July?? Nothing else in 5 days – where’s the numbers? What was the email about only having an HSE available (which never arrived?) I clearly stated what I wanted and it was an HSE. Somebody needs to sharpen their pencil down there!!
Have now contacted a dealer this morning on a recommendation and have already received a quotation back based on that spec
Maybe I’m a difficult customer sorry if I sounded rude. But for now I’ll stick with the guys that got back to me with the imformation I needed.
Thanks for your time in these matters Cheers Laurence.

I don't know how you can afford to lose customers like this, somebody would be seriously getting their arse kicked big time if they worked for me, its just not good enough Mr. Green

i'm still waiting for the promised quote from an official dealer (the swiss importer of land rover!). ok... fair enough... that was 5 weeks ago! what you guys think? maybe they need some more time... Laughing

i'm a customer, not a beggar. now i ended up with a friendly dealer near vienna, approx. 700 km away from my place in switzerland!!! excellent service, very competitive price (less 25 % compared to switzerland) and the delivery time is also ok!

can't wait for my tdv6 hse in fuji white! Smile If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid...

My experiance with LPR was just the opposite to this . I dealt with Matthew and he was emailing me or on the phone to get a deal done all the time! Plus once the deal was done any thing i emailed about was answered straight away. I though he must live on the computer. Laughing Very efficient place. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I too have recently been dealing with Matt and James at LPR and have had swift and accurate replies to all my inquiries but for some reason just occasionally one of Matt's emails goes into my spam folder and I cannot access this from my iphone or ipad unless I can use the internet to access hotmail. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I agree it is so easy to spoil the experience of buying a new car... Mine was spoiled big time! The guy i was dealing with was such a moron, it is hard to believe! I paid in full and once they got the money it was nearly impossible to get in touch with him. It was agreed that delivery would take place on Wednesday, I was travelling from Coventry to London on the day, and while on the train I called the office to find out that no one knows about the delivery because the guy I was dealing with is sick and not present! I got so Censored off and obviously expressed it not in the kindest way possible. When I arrived I still had to wait for 40 min just to get the car inside from the car park. When they finally got the car inside, I noticed that that the moron who took my money forgot to instal sidesteps!!!!!!!!!! When all the paperwork was signed another fat bastard tried to explain how to use the car and its main functions of which he knew for no more than 70%.

I know for sure, next time if I decide to go for another RRS, I will 100% get in touch with James from LPR. Sorry to hear you did not get the email from LPR, because they are truly committed and if buying from them would receive a king like reception and after sales service (which you still can get). Vadim A.

I would have to agree, James and the guys at LPR are very good compared with most franchised dealers.

But it's not just LR, every dealer i have had experience with dealing with, seem to have some issues or problems.
I find it's not even worth 'popping down' anymore, as you don't get served properly, and you have to deal with the reception staff who are supposed to be the first 'customer facing' level in the whole process, but usually stick their nose up at you, or who know nothing about the cars themselves.

Just as they qualify each customer for seriousness or quality, i tend to ring around first when looking for a particular car, see who seems to be most amicable, and eager to do a deal, then and only then wonder into a dealer and play the 'game'..
Prefer to go to motorshows to check out the cars in person as most dealers either don't help, or like our local audi garage, they 'harrass' you soon as you enter the site.

- Car park attendant who takes your name.
- Radio's ahead to the concierge!
- They welcome you addressing you by name.
- They then stalk you as you have a mooch and insist on taking your details and having you meet with one of their sales specialists..
- Then after you've had a chat, i think they HAVE to ring you 3 set times and report back the findings.
-Then someone from listers central customer service, calls you to see if evertything was ok!

However we only went in to see the stock they had, realised they had hardly anything, left details to try and get hold of something, which they couldn't, found one at another garage the next day and deposited it immediately! Nice effort but seems a bit OTT..

Jeez you should try a certain BMW dealership in the North East. After getting the figures to change I told the sales guy I wasn't interested over the phone, then by email, then followed 4 phone calls, 3 emails and eventually he managed to track down my office number somehow and called there!! Think he must have gone to the service department and got it from there even though I don't remember ever giving it to them either!! It actually was getting scarey!!!!!
