If your Sport has sat unused for any length of time (weeks rather than days!) the air suspension loses it's air and the compressor will pump it back up to the set height when you start up. The suspension on mine creaks quite loudy when I activate the suspension, doesn't matter if I am going up or down it still creaks. The other thing you will notice is if you do this at night you will also see the headlights trying to self level as the suspension adjusts. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

On older RR models this will indicate an air leak in the suspension.

When mine was a bit younger the suspension used to strange things on turnoff & startup (it used to drop a few secs after taking the key out etc) but it doesn't seem to do this anymore... Never a dull moment owning a LR!

As I had initial probs with the suspension warning lights and after a discussion with my local garage I've taken to locking the car in access mode when I park up before turning the engine off. This seems to have stopped the warning light fiasco. Dealer said the cars brain was constantly trying to level even when off and the only way to switch it off was to lock it down. My drive slopes down slightly.
