Position of rear LR badge !

Hi all,

It’s a nice evening, so I thought I might go out & swap the green LR badge with the black one on the rear tailgate. While removing the green badge will be easy enough, but I got to thinking, how am I going to ensure that I place the black badge in the same place ?

I could mark the position of the green badge with some chalk, but if I need to clean off any adhesive residue from the original badge, I’ll end up wiping off the chalk too !!

Perhaps I could put masking tape all around the green badge first, marking with pencil the exact position. Not the easiest task I’d say, but it could be done, but I’m not sure I want to plaster masking tape over the back of the “Sport”.

So I thought I’d post here & maybe some of you who’ve done this badge swap might let me know how you approached this problem.

So how’s about it guys, how did you get the black badge in the spot that the green one was at ??

I haven’t done it yet !! (pardon the expression)

I abandoned last night as I began to think about how I was going to ensure I’d get the badge back in the right place.

So hopefully it will be “out with the masking tape” later today or tonight.

BUY some Elephant Tape ...

Place your new BLACK badge on the upper side ( grey ) of the elephant tape and draw around the badge = Exact shape.

Then with a scalpel type sharp blade - cut out the oval shape.

Now place/stick the elepant tape with cut out - over the badge on your car.

Then proceed to the removal of the green badge..... may want to heat it up before hand ( use hairdryer ) and semi loosen....... using dental floss may assist removal?

With green badge now removed = Perfect whole/shape/position remains.

Clean off the area from previous badge ....... now ready to affix new one.

Just stick the thing on - it's obvious where it goes. Even a child could do this.

FANTASTIC MDP Idea Thumbs Up

I presume when you say "Elephant Tape" it's what we in the Rock 'n' Roll business call "Gaffa Tape"

(well we did at least when I was a younger man & was actually able to haul flight cases up fire escapes !)

Gaffa, would be a bit sticky & would leave a residue. But I do have some pretty good quality masking tape, which I'll use.

Yes but when you're a fruitcake, anal perfectionist like I am, you need to ensure that it's in the total exact correct place on the tailgate. Otherwise it's not worth doing Rolling Eyes
