Reliable SUV's / 4x4's

Interesting article in the Telegraph based upon info from Warranty Direct http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/6...ealed.html

Wonder what Jeremy Clarkson would make of the statement

"The biggest surprise must surely be the poor performance of the Volvo XC90. It's not what you'd expect from a manufacturer with Volvo's reputation, but I'm signing cheques every day on XC90 repairs."

Interesting bit Schmoogs is that the Germans did not fair that well either

The Audi A6 Allroad (2000-2005) was named the least reliable pre-owned 4x4, followed by the Volkswagen Touareg, the BMW X5 "

Had a mate who had the V10 diesel toe rag, it used to eat gearboxes on a regular basis, so i can relate to the above Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

True enough. No surprise that the Japs do well though, they've always been more reliable than the Germans. Just a shame they don't make any cars that you would want to own anymore (GTR excepted).

Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Stornoway Grey

I'll vouch for the reliability issues with the XC90 and also Volvo customer service issues too!

TWENTY THREE visits to local and away from home dealers on a car new 1st October 2008 and 5000 miles when I got rid for the Sport!

5 weeks off the road over Easter 2009 while they investigated the completely wrong set of symptoms passed from the customer service manager to the engineer!

When I got rid of it they were wanting it "into Daventry for an indeterminate period to TRY and rectify the various issues with the vehicle."

Note the words TRY in there.

They also have a major problem with the AWD failing and owners finding out about it when they sit with the front wheels spinning in conditions like this!

Repairs can be from couple of hundred to thousands! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

535d m-sport Platinum grey and a few extras.... Gone

X5 3.0 sd in Space Grey, 20's, Dynamic Pack, Memory Pack, Media Pack, Tow Pack, Rear DVD, Panoramic Sunroof, Steps, 7 Seat Pack, Reversing Camera with moving lines, programmable park heat, etc etc etc - Gone

Range Rover Sport Santorini, privacy, dvd, towpack GONE!!!
