The factory tints are physically darker glass than standard.
Saying that there is no problem having tints fitted to the standard tinted glass, make sure the experts don't over do it though with a darker tint than needed.

To be fair I will be having mine done over the next few weeks when I find the time.

From what i know about i think that if you have aftermarket and want to go darker then they would strip off the existing and start again. I looked into it with Pentagon - 4 grades over here, light smoke, smoke, midnight, limo. A-B pillar only light smoke is legal, rear of B pillar anything is allowed.

My last RRS had smoke (35%) from A to A and looked well - i think too much of a contrast A-B and B back looks Confused

Still have to get around to mine (as well as finding some 20" wheels Sad

I would have thought so but that is one for your 'tinter' IIRC a conversation i think there are some chemical options for removing the tints also - maybe to soften them?? Let us know what he says??

I would suggest you get someone who knows what they are doing to remove the film....other than that I can't see a big problem.

i think they would strip off the old tints

On my FL2, the windows already have a slight tint in them anyway like all cars nowadays, i can't remember the percentages but even adding a light smoke would put them beyond the legal limit, so it was aftermarkets tints from the b pillars back

There has been a thread over on Disco3 by 90BHP for a group buy on security glass with a tint which would stop smash and grap theft etc as the glass would shatter but hold its shape

It was a midlands based company, but they might have a irish side of the company who might offer similar deal Idea

Sure, why should they not (if you don't do it yourself with a ceramic stove top cleaner Wink ). Best thing is - like the others said - let somebody do it who can do it and I mean a company.
It won't cost too much and looks just better than if you do it yourself. Mine costed 350 € including curtesy car for the day and with foliatec foils which are the best on the German market, the foils alone would have cost me as customer 180 €. The little surplus is worth the saturday afternoon you save by letting anybody else do it! Thumbs Up Cool RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink
