Yeah, they've always been stick afterthoughts rather than replacement housings. I don't think they're coming off Confused

Yes they are glued on, theres no clips and the original mirror is a sealed unit so they wouldnt be able to replace anything. Best thing to do is heat them up then if you do get them off maybe replace them with colour-coded covers to hide the mess?

Thanks all - I'll opt for the hairdryer approach initially and after ripping my fingers to bits, pulling the door mirror off completely, and covering everything with slowly hardening glue i'll opt for the crowbar approach and just beat the s*** out of the rest of the car in frustration...... Neil

They're not going to come off with a hair dryer. Complete new mirrors or paint them. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Update - Mirror Chrome Caps removed! Took less than 10 minutes for both sides! Heated with hairdryer - couple of screwdrivers in between mirror and cover and prised off - no damage to mirrors or covers. Left with a "spiders web" of black rubber adhesive type stuff stuck the mirror housing which peeled off in a oner no problems. Very slight outline marking left which has disappeared with a good wash.

Couple of Chrome Caps for sale.... Neil
