thanks Ant - looks like it's the Shell as I would normally fill up at Sainsburys - amazing - I thought they were exactly the same - will keep on monitoring it though.

What mpg were you getting from Sainsburys fuel?

I'm getting nearer 4mpg better than Sainsburys fuel - There may be 4p difference per litre in the price of the diesel but I still think I am quids in. INstead of getting sub 400 miles to the tank I am now getting in excess of 450. I'm doing a longer term test though each time I fill up.

I've been using normal Shell diesel in mine, not Vpower as it isn't available in this area, and the normal shell is the same price as the supermarket stuff around here too. Supermarkets are now only for emergency fill-up's. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, your fuel will be Dutch at the moment anyway, won't it? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award

I managed 600 miles to a tank whilst in Europe, 34mpg. I normally average about 30mpg in the UK but whilst over here I've been using V-Power and shall continue when I get home now. |

For anyone thinking of getting a 4.2SC and converting it to gas, I'm getting the equivalent of 32 - 38 mpg. |

Just driven from Southampton to Stirling on 3/4 of a tank of black stuff in my unchipped TDv8, average speed of 62mph showing on the trip computer for the 9hour trip with a few bursts up to 100/110 and average mph on the trip computer is now showing 32.8mpg after 410 miles, best for a complete trip that I have ever had from it. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Just did 1,800km yesterday from Amsterdam back to here. Took me 15 and half hours so the average speed shown was 116km/hour and average fuel consumption was 11l/100km which is about 25 mpg. Most of the time I was driving in Germany and Austria at about 150/160 km/h although I had a few traffice delays which pushed the average speed down. I am still impressed by the mileage and if I had kept it on cruise control around the 100 km/h would have fared much better. RRS TDV6 (gone)
