Bobby,

The write up sounds fairly good,
Any news on your own sport yet, it is a shame you have to wait so long. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Tim, Biggles

Thanks for your concerns. Appreciate it.

There's still no news of my RRS. As I mentioned in my earlier posts, my country is unique. I don't think there's any other country with our pecularities. Imported cars are slapped with very high taxes/duties. In order to qualify to be able to pay the said duties/taxes, one has to possess an Approved Permit (AP - like as though there is such a thing as an Unapproved Permit!) to bring the car into the country. Only 'certain' people will ever have this previlage.

After that, one has to apply to the right authorities to sell the vehicle at a certain price. No approval, no permit. Lots of other things involved - difficult to put everything here. Anyway, I hope you guys understand.

Tim, I don't know if the above comment was directed at me personally Wink or said in jest in general. Nevertheless, I will endeavour to answer this. And no offence taken. I am a very big man.

There was a topic on RRS owners' ages, occupation etc. I did not get in there simpy because I do not possess one yet.

So here goes. My parents were migrants in this country. My late father died penniless, leaving me nothing but pleasant memories. Whatever I have today, I worked hard for it. Please remember, I am a second-class citizen of this country. Currently I am in the heavy equipment business, mainly trading. Finally, I am 57 years old! Cool Cool

Hope the above is not disappointing. And sorry if I inadvertently offended anyone.

Should we now ask who the oldest member is? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Malaysia Boleh!

Bobby,
I don't think Tim means any harm. He has used the phrase to highlight how some people think about prestige cars.
It is a common comment to me, (must nice to have a rich family) I wish, everything I have has been by sheer hard work and determination, it annoys when people think you have been handed the silver spoon.
Keep smiling and keep posting. I for one and I'm sure Tim will be too, are looking forward to the day you collect your car so that you can join us all in actually driving the best 4 X 4 X Far. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Sure will Bobby - the second your post appears on the forum that says it has arrived, you will hear us all cheer for you!

The comment I posted wasn't aimed at you and many apoligies if it appeared to be that. You appear to be in the same position as most of us on the forums, we've worked hard all our days and appreciate the finer things in life that we can now afford to buy.
I was trying to highlight the rather poor/odd choice of phrase the journo in Bangkok was using. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Guys, many thanks again.
As I said earlier, no offence taken.
Biggles, Tim, I understand you guys perfectly. I believe this is how a forum should be. Even if we have not met, we can still be friends, right?

Hopefully I will have an opportunity to be in your beautiful country again. The last time I was there, late 1997 I think, there was a fire at Heathrow. We had to drive all the way to Manchester to catch our flight back home.

Will keep you posted on the latest developments.

Have a good weekend!!! And keep up the lively postings! Malaysia Boleh!

Sorry Tim,

Had a Defender awhile back but later sold it.

Bobby, you are not giving the head of the import dept. the right sort of Christmas present. Have you taken a ride down to North Port at Klang to see if your car isn't sitting under the trees there with all the other Landies, Mercs, BMWs and Jags waiting for import clearance? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ha Ha, Tim. How I wish!! That will be the day!
The thing is that the local LR people will have to come back to me with the final pricing once all import/AP paperwork is sorted out. Sadly, they have not contacted me yet ...

At this point of time we are still on a 'Probable Price' status. That means I agree to accept (by paying the deposit) the eventual cost of roughly 100,000 GBP for my RRS (at today's exchange rate).

Is it cheap for a 1st Edition 4.2 SC? Malaysia Boleh!

It could be worse Bobby, you could be buying one in Singapore!

And the cost of yours "on the road" would very nearly buy 2 S/C's here and 3 TDv6 base models! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
