Gap Tool question

My Gap tool shows towball not fitted. I do have a towbar and towball fitted so wonder what this setting is ?

Don't know if changing the setting to fitted makes any difference.

Car is L494 SDV8 M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Rear parking sensors, blindspot monitoring if fitted and vehicles rear fog lights (trailer fog lights will work).

All Range Rovers for the Australian Market came with the wiring etc fitted at the factory but not enabled unless ordered with the hitch etc.
I am still trying to figure out which option in the CCF to turn on to get my rear sensors etc to turn off when a trailer is connected as mine was one of the ones not enabled...
If you can figure out which CCF setting to use that would be very helpful... I have tried several of the 7 pin ones but not had any work yet... maybe there is a towing module that needs to be plugged in as well.. not entirely sure. I only tow small trailers currently so not a big issue for now.

Make sure the trailer indicators are bulbs not LEDs

I have tried both and nothing on either...it isnt a big deal right now, just annoying when you select reverse, you just need to disable the parking sensors... 1st world problems really Smile

I haven't noticed any changes with tow ball enabled but haven't connect caravan yet . I was thinking it may also change gear selection when towing but will have to wait a week to find out. The only time reverse sensors annoy me is when I am backing up to connect the van. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

If yours is configured correctly then the reverse sensors will be locked out when you connect up and you should get a green Trailer notification on the dash. That is to tell you have connected up and all is ok.
Now that may not happen if your caravan or trailer has LED indicators.
There is a little black box (resistors and relays) that add the extra load to mimic normal indicator globes.

That is all dependant on the year model you have... That should be up to at least 2011 RRS.. not sure after that but others will know.

OK I have finally hooked the Van up and this is what I have noticed. No green trailer, but this is because I have LED lights. No rear park sensors going off, they didn;t before.

Changes I have noted.

Trafic warning in mirrors now work on a wider scale, did not work before.
Gear changes in lower gears held to higher RPM 3,200 seems to be the change point.

No other changes noted. Fuel read out with 3.3 ton Van was 15.8/100 from computer so will be higher in real life, this seems about the same as before. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
