They are quite easy to change, although you do have to remove the tailgate internal trim panel to get to it as it can't be done from the outside. I do have a genuine l/r switch laid here somewhere will have a look see if I can find it and get part number from the box, but I think it may be LR020997 just to confuse things.

On my MY13 Sport it was a sealed switch bonded together, and you can't open it up without destroying it, looking at a new switch I have here it is a bonded one as well.

Hi Col - did you find out which part number it is please? I think that you may be right with the latest suggestion of LR020997 but it would be good to know.

Hi, yeah sorry forgot to mention it, the number of the one I have here is LR042648 which may actually be for a very late model Freelander, I think it may be the same as the Sport though just different number, looking at a parts list LR020997 is the one listed for the Sport with Vin. starting CA on, so to be on safe side I think I would stick with that number.

The original L320 had that switch, the facelift has a different one. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Success! New switch fitted yesterday and all working well. Thanks to Col for the link to the instructions to remove the boot interior trim panel. Very useful. In all, it took about an hour to do the swap. One small note for anyone doing this job - make sure you do not fit the switch upside down. We did this and had to remove and it and re-fit correctly (ease mistake to make).
