alignment causing issues?

Hi all can I get some advice on the following, back in Feb I had both front arms replaced and a wheel alignment done as well as other stuff. Since then my steering wheel has been slightly off set, a little turned to the left, for some reason I thought this would correct itself once the vehicle was driven following the work Embarassed , it hasn't. Part of the work done was replacing all the ARC pipework, recently I've been getting the " vehicle lean when cornering message", checked the fluid level and all fine with no leaks. This message only comes on at speeds above 50 mph on the motorway.

I had it checked over by a different garage, a more local one and they tell me that it needs a wheel alignment to start with and then steering sensors will need resetting. This garage suggest that the issue only flags up when at speed because the vehicle thinks, due to the off set of the steering, that a sharp turn is being carried out, it's trying to adjust the ride on the appropriate side and then throws the message up, at lesser road speeds it doesn't have an issue with this "turn" being done.

Does this diagnosis sound correct and if I get the alignment re done can I sort the steering sensors with my Gap iiD tool Question

Thanks for any input you can give Thumbs Up

First thing I would be asking is,,did the company who did the repairs & alignment put the vehicle in TTM (tight tolerance mode) as this needs doing on the Rangerovers. Andy.

I'd safely assume so as they are a very reputable and well established LR indie specialist

Yes, you can reset the steering sensor with the Gap IID tool. I had a similar issue with the steering wheel off centre after replacing front arms, had the alignment done on the hunter equipment and I know it was done correctly as I was there and actually put it in TTM myself in addition to full fuel tank as advised by L/R and watched on the screen as the guy actually did all the adjustments etc. and the steering wheel was still off centre.
What I later discovered is there is a initial setting for the amount of thread exposed on the track rod to track rod end by equal amounts +/- a couple of mm if I remember right I will see if I can find it again. It is in the w/shop manual somewhere, and mine was out so I simply screwed one in and one out by exactly the same amount (depending in which direction the steering wheel needed to go) until it re-aligned the steering wheel dead centre. As they were adjusted by the same amount it never altered the tracking, that was over nearly three years ago now and the steering is still bang on and the tyres are wearing perfectly even. Not saying you have the same issue but may be worth checking.

I will add I never any suspension lights etc on though.

Cheers
Col

It's booked in with the guys who did the wishbone replacement and ARC pipe replacement, hopefully they'll sort it. On a positive note it sailed through it's MOT this week with no advisories, very pleased with that. Mr. Green
