I think someone may have made a metal bracket, to mount behind the grill.

It gives a readout of battery state so you know whether to connect up your battery charger or not. Kev

The part with the indicator lights hooks up permanently to your battery which then makes it easy to just plug the Ctek charger into without having to faff about with connecting it to the battery each time. I have one fitted but only to the battery box so I still need to open the bonnet to use it. However the traffic light system is more of a pain than anything else. I couldn't work out why, with a new battery it was continuously flashing orange or red until someone explained that when you lock the car, all the ECU's are still running for a few minutes and this puts a drain on the battery. I guess it's different if you can see the lights through the grill as they will eventually go green! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue 2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time? |

If used daily they appear to be fine, but if left unused the do seem to drain down over time. I have the basic non mounting comfort connector and it just tucks away under the back edge of the bonnet out of sight when not being used, can still see traffic light if required but don't really take any notice of them. Also means can plug or un-plug without unlocking the car or bending down which is a bonus at my age.

I actually have the 13pin tow plug connector for my Ctek, so can just plug it in there without opening the car but I was wanting the visual indicator to know when to do it! My car spends a reasonable amount of time doing nothing and it does sometimes drain down, so something that I can glance at as I go by was the idea.

Could try one of the bm2 type battery monitors and use the app on your phone to check charge state, they are quite accurate.
