What’s This MOT Advisory??

Seen a potential purchase however the MOT history shows the following -

Offside Rear Upper Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement Front bush
Near side Rear Upper Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement Front bush

I get the impression from the forum this isn’t unusual, can I ask how it can be rectified? From my understanding this is common due to the weight of the car so I am guessing there is most probably an updated part out there somewhere I could fit??

Si

Hi,
regular maintenance/wear of suspension parts, as you say they are a heavy lump and the bush's wear

just work on £250 each as a guide to what you will need to spend in the future, any clunks and its the near future Laughing

bargaining point get them replaced as part of the deal

Thumbs Up Porsche Cayenne 2022
gone Porsche Cayenne 2020
gone Corris Grey HSE Dynamic 2016
gone Ipanema HSE lux 2010
gone Rimini HSE 2005

Thanks riverblanche that’s really useful, is it an OEM replacement or at £250 are we talking about an updated part??

It's just a replacement bush. Often easier to just replace the whole arm. That replaces two bushes and ball joint. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

These bushes have some degree of compliance from new and it appears that it is the interpretation of the individual tester how much that should be.
I suspect that the bushes on my MY10 are original. On the last MOT no advisories, previous test at the same test station front lowers and one rear upper advisory. Previous MOT (different test station), no advisories, the one before (again different station) front lowers were advisories. In fairness, there is a very slight knock on jabbing the brakes at low speed, but no banging over bumps or uneven wear to the tyres, so although not urgent, I will have them done at some point.
