Uneaven revs and juddering

Experiencing a bouncing rev counter and juddering when driving . Revs keep jumping between 1500-2000rmp. Sometimes judders when going up a small incline.
Had a new belt and full service recently.
Advanced fails code detected a valve not closing recommended some engine flush which I have done but it's no better.
Any suggestions please.
This is my first post, RRS 2008 hse
Thanks

Torque converter possibly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

You could try a brief 'stall' test.

Left foot hard on brakes. Car in drive and throttle progressively and see if the torque convertor/transmission 'holds' the engine in stall conditions. Should be no noises, slippage etc.

Make sure you have plenty of clearance in front of the car and you'll need to have a firm pressure on the brakes.

Do not hold the engine in stall for more than a few seconds. If you get noises it can be the transmission's brake bands. Failure to hold the engine revs stable points to convertor.

Might be worth a look underneath to see if any fluid has leaked

Hi there, I know this sounds like a silly question but where would the leak be coming from if there was one as mine has the same issue but between 2000 & 3000 revs Sad
