I have exactly the same as you Col, all works fine 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black 2013 SDV6 HSE Black Edition- Orkney Grey with Ebony & Ivory. On my 2012 SDV6 have never had any issue. 10 mins after switch off the level can be checked. Still would prefer a traditional dipstick as well. I check it a couple of times a week. |

I think you may find it will tell you how much oil to add if low, 1.5 litres is from min to max, if you add that amount because it just said low you may find it will give you a overfilled reading next time you check it.

If you check your oil level on the dash display it will either say “OK,” in this case you do not add oil irrespective of where the indicator bar is, or it will say “Add 0.5 litre” or some other figure. Then you do as it says. If you run the car without checking the oil and oil is required it will not warn you. You will never get a low oil warning in an RRS1 |
