I bought my RR sport Autobiography 2 years ago when it had 3 years and just under 100.000 Km's after a year the electronic enternainment unit gave out, had to buy a new module for $ 5000,- including the work.

Now last week I was driving from Milan to Geneva and just before Aosta in the Alps the engine went... tok tok tok, boom... lots of smoke and nothing. The car had to be towed and the first indication is the motor is total.. with no indication, no warning lights, nothing. the car now has 120.000 KM on it and it just turned 5 years old.

Anybody else has knowledge of the same issue? the RR garange in Geneva told me they likely needed to replace the full engine at $ 20.000,= excluding the work....

Now the car is still in Italy with the Garage who towed the car, and I hope they can fix it up cheaper.... then its straight to selling it.
I'm so dissapointed as my previous RR sport worked for 10 years with no big problems..

Sound's like the "snapped crankshaft" issue some cars have had, quite a few posts on the subject in the forum if you do a search, assuming it's the 3.0 engine only you never mentioned which engine it was.

Sorry, just saw that it is 5 years old...

Just got the estimate from the Italian garage the car was towed to.... EURO 25.000
after talking to the RR garage in Geneve (Autobritt) I decided to have the car towed back to Switzerland.
They shall see if they can get some goodwill from the factory or not.. otherwise I will not let them repair it but sell the car for parts, as it is in mint condition and has 4 brand new summer tires and 4 brand new winter tires..
Ill keep you updated.

And indeed it is / was the 3.0 Ltr diesel engine.
