Service types for the elderly vehicles

Folks

My MY07 RRS TDV8 is now due its 11 year service. I was quoted £438 (same as the 5 year service) from a main stealer today, but the member of staff said the type of service was a Minor Service as it was now in its 11th year, so they go back to the start. If this is the case should it not be in the region of £180, as priced on the same dealers web page and the price of the 12 month service?

Martin. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5
Disco 3 HSE TDV6 2007
Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

11 year service is an "A" service with no extras

Do you need to go to the main dealer for your car? I'd try and find a local independent LR expert as they often know better than the grease monkeys in the main dealers and their hourly rate should be a lot less. Presumably the car is not going to hold much if any extra value for being serviced by a main dealer. Robin

As above, mines 6 years old and it goes to a local independent staffed by Land Rover trained techs. In my opinion the value should increase because of it. They are also very fair as the quote for my SC was less than the TDV8 and the final cost was less than quoted. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
2012 5.0 SC AB. Sadly written off by a campervan

No it doesn’t need a main dealer sevice, but as I am at the end of the world up here, there isnt a lot of choice. Rolling with laughter Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5

Sadly the Inverness 4x4 Indie also wants £500+ for this service, slightly dearer than the Main dealer: both are literally in the same street up here. Censored Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5

I have a customer who live a little North of Inverness, who used to use Inverness 4x4, until her engine imploded. She was quoted £14,000 to fit a 2nd hand engine into her D3 Shocked

And then they offered to buy it off her for £500 Rolling Eyes

Not often Dundee is described as being too far south from anywhere, but then again I seem to hear "duelling banjo's" every time I go through there Mr. Green Mr. Green

Just had a B service done on my 11 year old TDV8 at my local Indy. £512 including MoT and rear brake pads. Sounds OK to me. That includes a courtesy car for the day and, when they couldn't get the car through the MoT because of the stupid AFS headlight not aligning properly, instead of failing it they just fiddled around until it worked then called that pass! Robin
