That's a snapped crank. Breaks between cylinders 2/3, pushed the front end of the crank forwards, and fractures the oil pump casing

Engine is as good as scrap Big Cry

Yes with all that black paint it does point to a recon I would say.

I would say going in for the third engine in a only a 100000 lifetime is not a good advert for these engines. Evil or Very Mad

I would be tempted to just leave it alone if it sounds fine.

What's the milage on it?

Change the rear belt while engine out.
And do front too ?

What year is the jag ?

All the accessory parts require stripping off the jag engine and LR pats fitting.

Injectors
Pas pump
AC Comp.
Alternator
Turbo's
Sump
Dip stick tube

You do hear the odd story of chain failure.

If you plan to keep for a long time I guess it would be a sensible time to replace.
Not cheap though.

Markmarc.. I think you may find it beneficial to join the sister Disco3/4 forum. Those guys are more into the DIY stuff. This forum is great, however more into enjoying the cars than repairing. Remember Disco is a Sport in working clothes. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.
