It feels the same size when driving, but is much more silky/floaty in terms of refined ride. Of course there is no dynamic and it feels much less sporty - steering feel and precision etc. The performance from the V6 is good, considering it's less powerful than mine. The newer infotainment is better, but MY18 moves that on. I've been enjoying all the extra features, as it seems to be fully loaded.

I'm not sure I'd want to lose all the 'sport', but then I am thinking about changing to an SVR ...!

Has the dealer not given you an update yet Mike? I'd be climbing the walls! MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I have been in the dealers FFRR AB for 3 weeks now and to me the cars feel almost identical. There is a little more Kudos in the FFRR and I certainly notice sport owners looking with envy. The single most annoying thing about a FFRR is the gear selector. MY16 (65) RRS, HSE, White, 21" 507s, Pan/Black Roof, 7 Seats, Ebony/Cirrus, Surround Cams, Fully Color Coded

I would agree with that and prefer the sport selector but the fullfat selector is cool when it goes down. Thumbs Up

The update received yesterday was a fairly cryptic acknowledgement that the problem seemed serious and they will let me know more when they get it up and take it apart ... Pretty useless and quite slow!
I also dislike the rotary gear selector, but would probably get used to it. I confess to having played with the configurator to come up with (extremely expensive) FFRR alternatives ...
Can anyone tell me how to stop the radio being on when the car is started and all the rest of the time?!! I didn't listen to it and only use the USB-connected iPhone for music. The car seems to want to have the damn radio on!!!

Update
I had a diagnosis late last Friday. A serious engine problem, LR have agreed to ship a new one out for a complete replacement.
I asked for more detail but didn't get it. I assume the crankshaft issue, but will have to wait to see.
It's mad. How old do you say your car is if it has a 100% new engine?

Are all the SDV6's prone to this all years ? Is there a certain age more are common or is it just luck of the draw !!!

Must be bad steel if the cranks do snap !!

Or if a main bearing slips jams the crank and then it snaps the crankshaft as its such a force stopping so fast !!

My 2014 HSE Dynamic has 21,240 mile on the clock its a scary thought !!! This is even worse then the Td5' discovery 2 oil pump bolt coming loose !!!! Least you can prevent this !!!

I guess with the sdv6 some do and some don't ! Must be either bad steel for the crank or bad bearings for the crank !!!

Watching this thread with interest.

Cheers.

Tom.

I believe I read somewhere on here that it's the bad design (by LR) of the bearings (either mains or big end Question ). Don't quote me on it but I think someone said that the revised design did not include the "keyway" which prevents the bearing slipping around thus jamming and breaking the crank. I remember rebuilding an old MGB engine and I always thought what a great and simple design idea it was to include the keyway which precisely located the bearing and prevented it moving out of place. I guess that this is the design LR have got rid of if my recollection above is correct Shocked Robin

My MY15`s crank went just after I sold it with 13,000 miles on, when it was 18 months old

I sold it to a friend and it happened 2 weeks into his ownership, thank god for warranty

Lucky it was in the manufacturers three-year warranty as i hear some are having problems within extended warranty. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I hear the same SVR but I’ve yet to read about some on here with full LR service history , under extended warranty , suffering this failure and actually being refused rectification by LR . I sincerely hope that I don’t for my sake and others.

Regarding the rotary shift on the FFRR, Evoques also have it and there are many many reported cases of it not rising up, stuck in the down position, so the car cannot be started........... another wonder design ruined by LR - Jaguars had it first in the XF and there were few problems with it there too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
