Re map experience

Hi all,

going to get my 2012 rrs sdv6 remapped hopefully next week.

Has anyone had any experience of Tech Tuning Northwest based in Heywood between Bury and Rochdale

Personally I wouldn't go anywhere but BAS or Alive. Specialists for LR products.
A 2012 requires ECU tweaks on the bench and not a simple plug in.....
Look forward to hearing your report Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Neither of the two places you mentioned are close enough to me. I did look. I have been assured that they only do 100% customised maps no generic plug ins or standard maps. When all said and done I can't find any recommended places that can do it for me close enough so I guess I pay my money and take my chances. They do download and store the original so I can have it restored if I want.

Hi all,

Took the plunge with Gary from Tech Tuning Northwest.
He came to me removed the ecu downloaded the original map in case I want it reversed in the future.
He then installed a custom map I had asked for increased power over economy. It took him about 3 hrs and cost me £270 plus £20 travel expense so £290 total. No rolling road but quoted 305 bhp but was open and said it will vary between each car as it's all about your own cars specifics.

Anyway so far so good there is a real tangible difference in power delivery the car is significantly keener in the mid range and positively lively in sport mode when you driving aggressively. I have been off on holiday this week so not had chance to stretch its legs for a real test and only popping in and out of town so can't comment on economy yet.

Gary has worked for race teams programming Gemini race Ecus all over Europe and appears to me to really know his stuff. This is a safety tune so not pushing anything too far and no difference in engine temp and definitely no black clouds of crap out the back.

So far I'm very happy will report back once I have had more time with the car. I'm keen to see what if any difference it's made to the 0-60 and have a plan to find out soon

Ed

Well all,

Update so far

Had the remap done just shy of a month now and I can say I'm happy. out and out off the line response has improved and has taken .5 off the 0-60 based on my pre remap and post remap test (not very technical just floored it from a standing start at the lights on the east lancs road lol) its now getting there a smidge over 8 seconds. however the really impressive bit its the extra torque you can genuinely feel the difference in the real world the power delivery from say 30 mph until I run out of bottle is just addictive. the best part is seeing the confusion on the BMW/Audi drivers when they cant out drag you Shocked I'm not saying you can beat them but they are not expecting you to still be there after they floor it.

As for Fuel well I'm not seeing any real difference I asked for power not economy so wasn't expecting any.
my commute to work is 37 miles some stop start until I get on the motorway the mostly 50 mph restrictions and if the traffic is flowing I have seen 33mph on the dash (will be lower in real life I'm sure) but my combined total average since doing the map is 29.8 mpg so I'm pleased with that.

Is this the best map you can get? well I wouldn't say so i'm sure there is more that could be done with a rolling road but Value for money? for me yes I'm pleased

How long until someone finds a way to lift the map of the later Sports (300bhp ish) and apply it to our earlier old thumpers. Whistle In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
