Slow puncher

Inevitably, I have ended up with a slow puncher. got a low pressure warning this morning so added about 10 PSI and checked the grooves. found a large nail stuck in there.

checked out some pricing for the 295/40/22's (ContiContact5) and got a bit is a surprise - then after a few second felt even worse thinking that I might get coerced into replacing a pair!

So my question is - what is the recommendations on replacing 1 tyre ? (car only has 8k miles on it and all the tyres look to have loads of tread left.) SVR with a few bits from Urban and Glohh

The conti 5's aren't cheap that size,that's what I'm running on my 22's.

So long as the nail/screw is at least 1" away from the edge of the tread/sidewall, a repair should be fine.

My spare has one. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

This is a simple repair and since you own an off road vehicle should be one you learn to do. I had the same issue on a rear tyre and it took me about 15 mins to fix using a plug . I would not run the tyre on the front for added safety. As your tyrs are near replacement run untill they need replacement. These types of punctures are common and the fix is very easy. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

No real offence intended but you own an SVR so one would assume your slightly older and in a good job.
Yet you can't differentiate between puncher and puncture.

I won't even get started on the lumpy idol thread...

And even if you can't have a minor repair as above, you can still send the tyre away for a major (hot vulcanised) repair, rather than buy a brand new pair of tyres.

50 time the price of DIY. . worth getting a plug kit for next time, might be you can't get to the garage when you are out in the bush or it is Good Friday and everything is closed.

this is a fix if the tire has not been driven flat and is a temp measure for rear tires , Riding a motorbike I am often having to fix tires in the bush and have got this down to an easy job. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

The only Bush my SVR is going near is the one planted in my front garden.

took the local professionals about 30 minutes to do the job. Not sure I could get the wheel off in 5 minutes let alone finish the job in that time. SVR with a few bits from Urban and Glohh

Those type plugs are only for temporary use in the uk,,Ive used them before but I wouldn't like to think I was running round in a 2 ton plus car with one in.Ive used them on truck tyres just to get them home or to nearest tyre depot.I also use them in lawnmower tyres as they don't do over 10mph.
