Autoglass Damaged windscreen when repairing chip

Autoglass must be the worst windscreen repair service ever ! Out to my RRS yesterday to repair a small chip in the centre of the screen.... repaired ok it and then disappeared... I went back later to check the rest of the screen later and found a crack right across the far corner of the screen....

They now refuse to come back out and want to charge me my excess for a screen replacement...it only needed replacing because THEY broke it!!! and my insurance company is even more useless as all they say is "it's up to Autoglass"....

If anyone else has had a similar experience then please let me know as I'm just drafting a small claims summons for the full cost of the screen, loss of use of the vehicle, hire costs and anything else I can think of !!! Evil or Very Mad D3 LHD - great car !

They're probably the biggest - I suspect they might have the best and the worst fitters, bit of luck what type you get.

Last one I had replaced was absolutely fine. Wife's repair recently was OK but not spectacular. One I had replaced many years ago was a bit of a bodge job.

Thanks Gary! Not been the best week with the beast... "engine system fault" came up yesterday so after having fault codes read it's in to dealers on Monday for turbo actuators to be freed off.... although after following advice on the forum a tank of Shell Advanced diesel and a bit of heavy right foot it seems to have freed itself but I'll get it checked anyway.... not fun being beaten off a roundabout by an Astra Big Cry

What really gets me is that Autoglass want me to pay for them breaking the screen Evil or Very Mad D3 LHD - great car !

I had rac come out to do a repair a chip on my screen of a Subaru, when he took his machine off he placed it on the roof where it fell down on to the windscreen cracking it and then landing on the bonnet leaving a nice dent and scratch. Now I didn't see this until after he had come to get a signature for his paperwork, he denied all knowledge and said I had to take it up with "the office". So I did, along with a 2 min clip from my cctv that I have at home. I had a new screen and bonnet repaired with in 14 days an appolagie letter and my initial excess refunded. Bonnet had been peppered in chips so it was a bonus.
