I have a 2012 sport and find the standard headlight beam to be quit yellow and would like to go for a more white replacement.
I know anything over 5500k starts to turn blue and I don't want that.

I'm looking for the whitest and brightest light I can get, What have people tried and would recommend

OSRAM Night Breaker are about as white and bright as you will get while still being legal.

LED's will be whiter but most won't work well in the reflector housing thus blinding other road users and most are also illegal for road use.

They all emit the same luminous flux, as the standard ones meet the legal maximum (3200lm). Standard 4300K is best for vision (better colour rendering, less glare, lower fatigue), and longest lasting, and cheaper too, so my advice is to stick with decent standard bulbs (e.g. Osram Original Line). If you must go for a higher colour temperature, know that it does not bring benefits for vision (indeed, it's worse for the human eye).

In terms of appearance, 4300K is white in the dark, 6000K is white in daylight - the adjustment of your eyes is responsible for the change in perception - but don't be swayed by the waffle the manufacturers like to put on the packet; the daylight colour temperature is not a virtue.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

No they are xenon bulbs as I had a set of these in my M3 and they were great. 5100k and very white and gave a much better light than the 4300k that came out.

Didn't know if any others were better now as it was 2 years ago I bought them.

Aren't these halogen rather than HID ?

Tested using a light tunnel and checking light levels at various points along the "road" to check the bulbs' output.

Having used the standard HID bulbs and the Nightbreaker Xenarc, I can say that the Nightbreaker is a better bulb for me. The light is more even across the road and the beam is slightly longer i.e. it goes slightly further up the road than the standard bulb. I also find the light to be less tiring on my eyes. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I replaced 7 year old factory xenon bulbs on my Volvo with the Osram Nightbreaker and they are obviously a big improvement in terms of range/output but I find the light to be quite yellow. I bought them from one of Osram's official UK sellers and the authenticity checks they provide check out, so I guess it's just a result of them being 4300k.

The Osram Cool Blue Intense I fitted to my SAAB provided a lovely white light and I remember the range was good too, so I'll be fitting these from the same seller to my Sport: https://driven2automotive.com/d2s/723-d2s-...-pack.html

A big improvement on the Volvo was simply wiping away the milky film from the inside/outside of the projector lenses but I'm not sure if these are easily accessible on the RRS.
