I am waiting to see if the SVR will be given the 585 BHP engine before ordering my SVR - because enough BHP is never enough BHP

A few weeks ago I heard about the launch of the Overfinch Supersport so enquired....prices start from an eye-popping £180k! This is what the sales chap just sent me.

Prices start from £179,990 and the car is the focused on performance and lightweight engineering, Reducing weight – especially rotational mass – pays dividends in agility, acceleration and braking performance. For that reason the car is fitted with lightweight 22” wheels.

• The Leggero 22”x10.5J alloy wheel fitted to the Overfinch Supersport is the lightest wheel the company has ever offered for any Range Rover model.
• The precision-milled forged monobloc wheel achieves significant weight savings (5.5kg) when compared with the factory SVR wheel.
• The Leggero wheel’s extra 0.5” width increases the size of the contact patch, to the benefit of grip.
• The all-carbon-fibre bonnet also delivers a reduction in weight compared with the standard component of 5.0kg (33%),
• The Overfinch titanium exhaust weighs just 14.81kg, a saving of almost 11kg (43%) over the standard item.
• This lightweight system reduces exhaust back pressure by 60% and has been specifically designed as part of an Overfinch performance package.
• This enhanced package includes a new intake system, developed using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) that increases efficiency by 30% overall.
• The Overfinch approach incorporates a secondary intake as well as a new airfilter housing for improved flow distribution.
• Manufactured using the latest F1 3D printing technology, the system introduces an all new intake duct with optimised flow and reduced pressure drop.

That list is lifted from their website. As for the car and price, it looks and costs just like a Premier League footballer's car. Slap on some expensive wheels and plenty of "high tech" carbon fibre and hey presto! you're good to double the asking price. I'd bet any performance increases are simply down to mapping with no internals upgraded too.

Overfinch used to be classy but it all looks a bit brash these days. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If you want more bhp from the SVR can't you just get it tuned I don't personally know of any examples but I'm sure it can be done in excess of just a 25hp difference.

Nice set of hyperbole.

A 10.5 J wheel may be wider than the 21", but not the 22" 'factory' SVR wheel.

A 5 kg weight saving is a lot. Or isn't anything. It depends from where you are starting.

A 30% overall efficiency gain. What exactly do they mean? And if the intake is not limiting, it matters not whether you increase its 'efficiency' by 1% to 1000%.

Yup - agree all. I was just taken aback by the cost for what you get. Half of it I had to read twice to even decipher. I just made the enquiry out of curiosity.

Will wait and see if the MY18 will come with a 585 BHP engine. And not that I need the extra BHP - I just tootle around like a Sunday driver! The main reason is what it might do to residuals to the current 550 BHP SVR.

Just enjoy ownership and the comfort of knowing that you are successful enough to afford one.

If I figure this correctly the total weight saving is either 21.5 KG (if you save 5.5 KG over all four wheels) or 33KG if you save 5.5 KG on each wheel.... so why not just leave SWMBO or the rug rats at home ? will not only save you the additional weight and the cost of the upgrade but also huge shopping bills

I have no wife or rug rats but if I wanted to save that sort of weight and not pay extra or give afore mentioned persons transport I would buy an MX5............. or if Needing AWD as well then a V6 F Type Jag would be a lot more fun and cost a darn sight less! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I believe 'Urban' do an SVR ECU remap from 550 to 590...
