Help !!! Mecatronics seal on Gearbox

Hi guys.

first post on here. hope you can help.

My mecatronics seal was leaking on my 2006 rangerover sport tdv6, so ive removed the gearbox pan and now replacing the seal. the new seal has gone in correctly. however the clip that holds it in place will not push up. i thought the seal wasnt pushed in far enough stopping the clip from being push up. so i removed the seal and tried to push the clip up to see if it engages with out the seal in but it still wont budge. its as if its just stuck. i dont wanna put too much force on it incase it breaks.

any help would be great as is stuck on the ramp !!!!

The little lever won't go up into place without the sleeve being correctly positioned, or out of the hole.

They can be tight and fiddly, but the sleeve needs pushed right home before it will lock in place

cheers for the fast reply Disco_Mikey.

even with the sleave out of the hole it wont go up. its not totally stuck it just wont go up.

dont wanna put too much force on it incase it breaks. is there like a catch that holds it down you have to release ??

I had to hammer my new seal in with a bit of wood and hammer.

They are a very tight seal when new
